LEAKED! Galaxy S III mini specs

Ok, let me be honest. This was totally expected as mini versions are fast becoming a rage amongst stiff smartphone competitors (cough..cough..you know who)

The S3 mini follows in the wake of the Madly successful mammoth S3, the elder sibling.

Following are the almost final specifications of the S3 mini--- this is getting unveiled in Germany today (11th Oct 2012)

Specs follow -

Samsung I8190 Galaxy S III mini -

- 4" Samsung Galaxy S III mini device;
- Super AMOLED with WVGA resolution;
- ST-Ericsson U8420 chipset (dual-core CPU @ 1GHz / 1GB RAM)
- Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out-of-box
- Main snapper - 5MP unit with LED flash+ front VGA camera;
- MAY even support 720p/1080p recording!!

Ah.. this will be interesting.. People going after the iPhone only because of the size factor will surely be tempted to jump the Android bandwagon now (more lawsuits anyone?).

Good going Samsung! Let’s hope you DON’T release the S4 any soon or it could be the proverbial ‘biting your own A$$’!

Why am I waiting for the Galaxy S3?

Being seen with my dated but faithful (and fully exploited ;-) ) N70, I have been hammered with constant ridicule and sympathetic glances.

And being an android fan since long, I often had a techno-urge, countless times last year, to jump on the Galaxy S2 bandwagon. But I had been restraining myself after hearing about what the coming future (read S3) would be bringing as the latest technology (under-the-hood).

Going with the specifications and speculations around the web, it appears that S3 is going to be big; perhaps one of the all time best Android smartphones that could see the light of the day.

Some [constantly updated and ground-breaking] specifications include -

  • 4.7 / 4.8-inch full HD 1080P resolution with 16:9 aspect ratio. [DISPUTED with 720P]
  • 1.5GHz quad-core Samsung Exynos processor. [all in consensus]
  • Front facing 2 MP camera for video calling and an 12 or 8 MP rear camera. [news WRT 12 MP is more rampant]
  • Hosts Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. [Ok]
  • Ceramic case with [probably] inductive charging support [and that too out of the box!]

So, this son of a beast is expected in mid 2012 [some say early May] and in time for the iPhone / Android show-down too.

Lets hope, my decision to wait for something better than an S2, actually turns out right.

This could very well be technological history in creation. Lets see.

And seriously, now is the worst time ever to buy an android phone!

Excerpt from PCMAG….”The update pertains to the desktop formats—Windows, Mac, and Linux—and the mobile edition, for Android. For those who never upgraded to Firefox 4, version 3.6 will also be updated to version 3.6.9, which only adds security and stability fixes (though 3.6.9 is expected to be retired this April).”

And it is a silent update (like chrome).

But if you don’t wanna wait, hit it below!

ClockworkMod APP for Android Phone tethering + No Root Required!

Now that we are all finally sober, here is some news that would cheer up android users using non-rooted devices!

So what’s new? Well, now you can actually go ahead and enjoy tethering on your un-rooted android!

And, if you are still wondering what the hell is tethering, I suggest this primer.

The premise is that most tethering apps either require root access to work or are totally $$$. The ClockworkMod Tether is a FREE and un-rooted Android phone friendly APP which is very simple to use (like plug and play!)
